1. Sea stars are often called as Starfish. Sea stars are echinoderms that belong to the class Asteroidea.

2. There are more than 1800 species of sea stars. Their size is 12-24 cm.

3. Sea stars live in all Oceans of the planet.

4. Sea stars feed on mussels and they can regenerate themselves.

5. Most of the sea stars can be classified as opportunistic feeders.

6. Some species (for instance, the members of the Asterinidae) of sea stars are used in developmental biology.

7. The majority of sea stars have five arms, but some of them may have 10-15 or even 50 arms.

8. Sea stars mostly reproduce through free-spawning. Some starfishes reproduce through asexual reproduction.

9. The lifespan of starfishes varies between 8-10 years and 25-35 years.

10. Sea stars do not have brains and blood.
